‘Hard’ isn’t the bad guy

Resilience isn’t something we always choose.

It’s often something we discover through life’s inevitable punches to the face.

Whether we like it or not, tough times find us all. If they haven’t found you yet, they will.

Remember: We forge resilience through necessity.

I like to think about resilience as our level of tolerance for hard things. I know what I have faced and overcome. I have learned to use the hard times as a measuring stick for what I am facing in the present.

It’s rare these days to come up against something harder than what I have already been through.

My tolerance for hard is very high.

This is because I haven’t forgotten my times of ‘Hard’.

The Good Thing About Hard

There’s an undeniable truth about facing hard times: They change us.

We are branded by struggle, pain, and perseverance. This is the good thing about hard. It shapes us into more resilient, empathetic, and stronger people.

Comfort and ease….. please.

We learn nothing from that shit.

Hard pushes us to our limits, forcing us to find that little bit more we all have inside.

You’ll Never Forget It

These experiences are literally calved into our memories. These moments stay with us.

They become a part of the story of who we are. Testament to our ability to endure.

You’ll never forget the lessons from hard times because they become part of our DNA.

I know who I am today would not be possible without facing ‘Hard’.

Learning to say “Bring it on”.

While we may not choose hard, we can choose how we respond to it.

By saying “bring it on” we are embracing the challenge and placing a positive spin on it, we’re verbalising we’re ready.

We become adaptable, stronger and more tenacious. Each hard occasion becomes a crucial part of building a foundation of resilience.

Resilience, at its core, is about enduring and evolving through life.

It’s not about choosing the easy path. The good thing about hard is that it shapes us, and the experiences of overcoming difficulty stay with us forever, reminding us of our incredible capacity for resilience.

Status Quo

We are conditioned to choose the path of least resistance, the status quo.

By choosing the ‘Hard’ path we are challenging the status quo.

When we do this we can only grow from it.

So, I challenge you to challenge the status quo as much as you can.
