Being a parent is harder
Not being a parent when you desperately want to be – the hardest.
After thousands of dollars on IVF.
In financial trouble. (IVF is expensive).
No end in sight. And massive relationship stress.
We nearly gave up.
It was either going to make us or break us.
My wife and I were determined to not let it break us.
We had to continue to support each other and get back to “us” for a while.
Drop the worry, stress, anxiety and pressure.
Stop the IVF.
If it’s meant to be it will happen.
We were all but told – “kids aren’t going to happen for you guys.”
We were heartbroken but not broken.
My wife and I aren’t easy to break.
We let it all go.
Refocused on us.
. . . . . . . . . . . .
I’ll never forget the day we met up at the gym.
My wife had a silly “Don’t eat watermelon seeds” shirt on and in her back pocket a positive pregnancy test.
“Are you sure?” – I said
“Ah… 3 tests tell me the same thing” – My Wife said with a massive smile.
Well! I can’t describe the feeling.
We got lucky. Blessed!
It all happened naturally.

This isn’t really something that is spoken about a lot.
Especially in the context of what us fellas go through.
In no way diminishing what the ladies experience.
My urge to be a Dad was just as strong as my wife’s urge to be a Mum.
As Men, we just switch that emotion and feeling off right??
We have the ability to move on easier right??
We don’t need the support right??
That is what it felt like.
Don’t get me wrong.
There’s no way I’ll ever know what it’s like for a Woman in this situation.
But, the fellas go through the same stuff just at a different level.
When was the last time you heard about the desperation of having kids from a Man?
Probably never.
It happens.
I wanted kids more than anything in life.
I can only hope and pray we get blessed with a second.
Thinking of all the fellas out there desperate to have kids.
